Partners in Bible Translation Conference
On October 20-21, Wycliffe Romania has organized a conference called, Partners in Bible Translation. The primary objective of the conference was a better understanding among partners, toward a unity in Christ that God could use to develop His Kingdom. The topics discussed emphasized the importance of the Bible for Church and society, the role of the Church in God’s mission, the power of partnerships for Kingdom expansion, and the role of Bible translation in the protestant reformation. There was a presentation of the Bible translation movement in the world, so that our partners would have an overview of the global situation. Also, the activity of Wycliffe Romania was introduced, the Deaf and Roma translation projects in Romania, and the projects outside the country. Toward the end we discussed proposals for future collaboration.
We had a beautiful fellowship with 40 partners, representing churches that support missionaries sent through Wycliffe, and leaders from partner organizations. There were other partners that could not attend because of a major event held in the area, at the same time.
The partners were encouraged to hear about other partnerships that are developing in the Body of Christ, and how wonderful God works these days in the area of Bible translation. We are fast approaching the day when each people group in the world will have the Scripture translated in its language. We have also discussed possibilities for a greater collaboration in Romania. The discussions will continue next year when Wycliffe Romania will celebrate its 10-year anniversary. At this event, the director of Wycliffe Global Alliance will join us.
The International Day of the Bible – November 12
We are encouraging churches to celebrate The International Day of the Bible on November 12. It is a day when we join The Church in other parts of the world in praising God for the Bible in our languages, through which we came to know Christ and are growing in His likeness. We also take the opportunity to pray for the 1.670 people groups who are still waiting to receive the blessing that we have had for so long. Pastors could preach about the importance of God’s Word, and the church could give towards the translation of His Word in other languages. We have information ready to be used in churches about Bible translation, statistics and prayer requests on our website, www.wycliffe.ro
Passion Flame for Missions
On December 2-3 we will launch a project through the Evangelical Alliance of Romania, called Passion Flame for Missions. This will be organized with OM Romania and a church in Bucharest. The project consists in a circuit done in Romania during the year 2018, taking the Mission Flame to many churches. The intention is to extend this circuit into Europe in 2019. Please pray with us that the flames that burn in the heart of God for the lost people, would kindle our hearts too with the passion to take God’s love and Word to them in our generation.
Praise and prayer requests
Thank God that all members of our family are healthy. Miriam and Levi are doing well in school and started to make some more friends. We pray that they would integrate well in the church and in the teen group. Maria is also well and is growing in her service to the members and in the admin work. Please pray with us that new members would join the work of the harvest. I personally thank God that I am getting closer to our partners, and that God opens opportunities for us to work together in His Kingdom.
Please pray with us for a greater collaboration and unity with churches and organizations in the country and outside, to hold hands and take the Gospel faster and farther, to the last people groups. On the Day of the Bible, pray for the people who still lay in darkness without God’s Word, and pray that God would send translators to them. Pray also for the Deaf project committee to assist with the use of the passages translated, in the deaf communities in the country. We appreciate you praying with us.
